Abstrakt

COVID-19 to choroba infekcyjna wywoływana przez nowo zidentyfikowany koronawirus SARS-CoV-2. Pierwszy przypadek zachorowania odnotowano w Wuhan w Chinach pod koniec 2019 roku, a w kolejnych miesiącach choroba objęła swoim zasięgiem praktycznie cały świat i stała się jednym z największych wyzwań współczesnej medycyny. Zakażenie szerzy się głównie drogą kropelkową oraz przez kontakt bezpośredni lub pośredni z osobą zakażoną. Najczęściej występujące objawy to gorączka, kaszel, osłabienie, bóle nerwowo-mięśniowe. Szczególne ważne dla otorynolaryngologów są liczne doniesienia naukowe o stosunkowo często występujących zaburzeniach węchu i smaku. Badaniem potwierdzającym rozpoznanie zakażenia wirusem SARS-CoV-2 jest test PCR materiału pozyskanego z górnych lub dolnych dróg oddechowych. Istotnym problemem związanym z pandemią COVID-19 są zakażenia personelu medycznego, wśród którego otorynolaryngolodzy są szczególnie narażeni na zachorowanie. Wiele procedur laryngologicznych generuje aerozol dlatego powinny one zostać ograniczone do niezbędnego minimum, a ich wykonywanie musi przebiegać z zastosowaniem specjalnych procedur i odpowiednich środków ochrony osobistej. Niniejszy artykuł stanowi przegląd informacji dotyczących COVID-19 przydatnych w codziennej praktyce laryngologicznej.
