Abstract
COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by a newly discoverd coronavirus – SARS-CoV-2. The first case was reported in Wuhan in China in late 2019 and in the following months the disease spread across the globe and become one of the biggest issues facing the healthcare today. The virus is primarily transmitted between people through respiratory droplets and contact routes. The common clinical manifestations included fever, cough, fatigue and myalgia. The scientific reports regarding the occurrence of olfactory and gustatory disorders are particularly important for the ENT specialists. The gold standard for COVID-19 testing is the PCR test. The genetic material should be collect in upper or lower respiratory tract. The significant problem of COVID-19 pandemic are healthcare workers infections. ENT specialist are particularly at risk for the coronavirus disease. Many of the otorhinolaryngology procedures are thought to be aerosol-generating, so they should be limited to the minimum necessary. Personal protective equipment is for performing this procedures. The article present informations about COVID-19 useful in every day otorhinolaryngological practice.
