Dear Readers,
It is our pleasure to introduce the special issue of the Journal ”Wiedza Medyczna” dedicated to postgraduate education in the medical professions prepared by the team from the School of Public Health, Centre of Postgraduate Medical Education (CMKP).
The volume openss with four articles presenting the state of postgraduate education of doctors and dentists in Poland in 2010-2020 in selected 23 fields of medicine.
The first article presents the situation of education in the fields of key importance in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic, i.e. postgraduate training in public health, epidemiology and infectious diseases. The next article focuses on nine surgical specialties, i.e. pediatric surgery, thoracic surgery, vascular surgery, general surgery, plastic surgery, cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics and traumatology, and ophthalmology, as well as anesthesiology. The third article concerns the state of education in six specializations related to oncology, i.e. surgical oncology, pediatric oncology and hematology, clinical oncology, hematology, anatomical pathology, and radiotherapy. The fourth article was devoted to the situation of postgraduate education of dentists in the following seven specializations: conservative dentistry with endodontics, pediatric dentistry, orthodontics, dental surgery, periodontics, dental prosthetics and maxillofacial surgery.
The presented special issue is open. New articles concerning on the postgraduate eduacation of health proffesionals will be published in this issue on an ongoing basis.
